How To Create an Interactive Matching Quiz with J-Match

With J-Match (Hot Potatoes), teachers can create fun matching activities that improve engagement and can easily be shared on Blogger.

Let’s learn how to create one step by step! πŸš€

🌟 What is J-Match?

J-Match is a module in Hot Potatoes used to create matching exercises, such as:

  • Word ↔ meaning
  • Picture ↔ word
  • Question ↔ answer
  • Sentence ↔ response

Students usually drag or select matching pairs.

🧰 What You Need

  • Hot Potatoes software (installed)
  • Matching content (words, pictures, definitions, etc.)
  • Optional: images or audio files.

πŸͺœ Step-by-Step: Creating a J-Match Quiz

Step 1: Prepare all materials and the questions you need, after than Save it in the same folder.  For example belong: 


 


Step 2: Open J-Match Open Hot Potatoes  and Click J-Match.        

Step 3: Enter Matching Items and make the Title of your Task, After that You will see two columns: write your task

Example:

Left

 Right

Apple

  A kind of fruit

Dog

  An animal

 
πŸ”Š Add Audio 
    If yours need make the questions with audio, You can click the INSERT section above, After that click MEDIA OBJECT, then click BROWSER select the folder where you want to save the audio. Such as: 




  • Or insert simple HTML audio (if supported)

·         Click Insert after that select the picture. 


b      Step 5: Customize Feedback

  1. Click Options → Configure Output   
  2. Edit:
    • Instructions
      Example: “Match the words with the correct meanings
  
you can edit anything here (time, title, color, etc)


   Step 6: Save Your Project
  1. Click File → Save As (NOTE: save into the same folder with place to save the material, audio, and photo.) 
  2. Save as .j-match (editable file). (NOTE: save into the same folder with place to save the material, audio, and photo.) 

 Step 7: Create the HTML Quiz

  1. Click File → Create Web Page
  2. Choose:
    • Standard Format
  3. Save as .html
